Tulsa Teacher Corps is a teacher development program designed by Tulsa Public Schools for people who want to teach in Tulsa Public Schools classrooms where they are needed the most.
Led by educational experts, Tulsa Teacher Corps prepares corps members for successful teaching careers in Tulsa Public Schools by aligning content and coursework directly from district curriculum and by providing excellent training, coaching and development at every step of the way. From one-on-one coaching to training alongside Tulsa Public Schools teachers in summer school classrooms, our new teachers are ready and able to meet the needs of the students they serve and make an impact beginning on Day 1.
This program is designed for motivated individuals who are ready and willing to go the extra mile for the students of Tulsa in the Elementary positions.
Benefits of Tulsa Teacher Corps
Classroom-Centered Training in Tulsa Public Schools: Our innovative training model provides corps members with actual teaching experience in Tulsa Public Schools summer school classrooms during an intensive six-week training experience. You are given the opportunity to immediately engage with students and to reflect on their values, experiences, and ambitions while creating opportunities for students to see themselves in challenging content that will prepare them for success.
Job Placement and Hiring Support: Corps members who meet the criteria for passing summer training are prioritized for hire by Tulsa Public Schools. Our staff will support you in updating your resume and enhancing your interview skills as you go through the hiring process and interview with principals.
Ongoing Professional Development and Coaching: Throughout their first year of teaching, corps members will receive ongoing support and development from coaches in order to continually improve their instructional practice.
Full Salary and Benefits: After meeting program requirements, corps members will begin earning a full teacher's salary, plus comprehensive benefits as soon as they start teaching in the fall of 2019.
- hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- submit a current resume and names of two references who have supervised your work
- meet all legal requirements to work in the United States
- pass a criminal background check and drug test before the start of summer training
- be available for our six-week intensive summer training: June 10 - July 19, 2019
- be willing to teach in Tulsa Public Schools upon completion of training.
